Mechanical seal is a shaft sealing device for rotating machinery. Used in centrifugal pumps, centrifuges, reactors and compressors. Since the drive shaft penetrates both inside and outside the equipment, there is thus a circular gap between the shaft and the equipment through which the medium in the equipment leaks outward. If the pressure inside the equipment is below atmospheric pressure, air leaks inside the equipment, so there must be an axial sealing device to prevent the leak. There are many kinds of shaft seals, and because mechanical seals have the advantages of low leakage and long life, mechanical seal in the world is the main shaft sealing method in these equipment. Mechanical seal is also called terminal seal.
